Privacy Policy
Last updated June 15, 2026
CatNames.com (“we,” “us”) is built to help you find a cat name, not to harvest your data. You can use the entire site without an account, and we keep what we collect to a minimum. This page explains exactly what that means.
No account, no profile
There is no sign-up, login, or user profile on CatNames.com. We never ask for your name, address, or phone number to use the site.
What stays on your device
When you swipe names in Cat Name Tinder, your liked and skipped names, plus a random session identifier, are saved in your browser's local storage. That information lives on your device, powers your shortlist, and is never tied to your identity. You can clear it any time through your browser settings, and the site still works.
Anonymous usage data
To learn which names people love, a swipe may send the name, the action (love or skip), a random non-identifying session id, and a timestamp to our server. This contains no personal information. We use it only in aggregate, for example to rank popular names and improve our lists. It is fire-and-forget: if it fails, your experience is unaffected.
Cookies and trackers
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers. The local storage described above is functional, not advertising. If we add privacy-friendly analytics in the future, we will update this page first.
If we offer a newsletter and you choose to submit your email address, we will use it only to send occasional name ideas and updates, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We will not sell or rent your email to anyone.
Third parties
- Hosting: the site runs on Vercel, which may collect standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operations.
- Share buttons: the Facebook, X, and Pinterest buttons link out to those services. If you use them, that interaction is governed by their own privacy policies, not ours.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Children
CatNames.com is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site grows. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page.
